'Striped Bass have many fan clubs among anglers. They're good fighters and good eating. They're abundant too, from the Gulf of St. Lawrence to northern Florida, and in northern Gulf of Mexico waters. They were introduced on the West Coast in 1879 and '82 and are fairly commonly found from Washington to southern California. They spawn in fresh water, from river mouths to inland streams and lakes, where some have become permanent, landlocked residents.
