'A case bound reprint in seven volumes, 8-1/2 x 11 inch, originally issued from 1904 through 1934 by the British Patent Office. Contains 7,980 abridgments of patent specifications relating to their Class 119 (Small Arms), worldwide (Great Britain, Continental Europe & the Americas). Among these are 33 granted to O.F. Winchester and Winchester Repeating Arms Company, the first dated May 15, 1863, covering the Henry rifle. The patents covering every conceivable subject, break open shotgun systems, the magazine rifle, self loading pistols from 1886 and hundreds of others. This is the only source for German & French patents in English. It is the primary source for identification of the British-made single shot & break open actions, and semi-automatic pistols beginning with Armanni in 1886. The separate alphabetical index to inventors makes it a matter of moments to look up a patent. Several hundred are American --34 Winchester, 32 Colt, Smith & Wesson, Savage, Marlin & many others. The indispensable research source for collector, dealer, firearms examiner, law enforcement officer, lawmaker and attorney. Impossible to find in its original state.

This historical treasure was published by the British Patent Office in softcover for inventors & industry in order to reduce the enormous volume of patent rejections -- inventors developing ideas already under patent protection. In the process these editing employees created an encyclopedia of small arms & ammunition development containing information nowhere else available. It is one of 146 subjects completed during the period from 1904 to 1934.
