ABOUT THE AUTHOR Gerry was raised in a family whose interest in food was more than just "eating three squares a day." Her grandfather was a confectioner, an uncle was a caterer and all members of her clan were hearty eaters, to say the least. Gerry was routinely accustomed to preparing entire dinners before she even graduated high school. When she married avid hunter and gun editor R.A. (Bob) Steindler, she naturally extended her talents to game cookery.
What surprised her in the early years was not the cooking of game so much as the hunting of it. Her husband suggested that she become a shooter and she eventually became an expert in her own right, enjoying the hunt as enthusiastically as her spouse. Gerry tells you with simplicity and directness how you should field dress game and generally prepare it before you give it to the cook.
