Dave Conklin, a Montana resident for more than 30 years, is a retired park ranger who lives in the Flathead Valley. One of his first jobs was to write the Montana Historic Preservation Plan, through which he was instrumental in
nominating to National Register status many of the sites in this book. His hobbies include writing, photography, dog sledding, and Indian Wars cavalry reenactments.
