Lake Creek is a great river for a do it yourself unguided outfitted king salmon fishing trip. Lake Creek has large runs of king salmon and with the right techniques, unbelievable numbers of fish can be caught.
ABOUT LAKE CREEK: Lake Creek is a fun and exciting wild Alaska river. Just a short plane flight from Anchorage, float from the base of the Alaska range near Mt. McKinley for 60 miles to the Yentna River. Part of the Susitna River drainage, Lake Creek is home to some of the largest King Salmon in the world weighing in at over 50 pounds. Using the right techniques during the peak of the run, Lake Creek will produce 20+ kings per day to the hand. Lake Creek also has good runs of other salmon including coho, pink, chum and red salmon. Other fish include rainbow trout, grayling and northern pike.
Abundant wildlife on Lake Creek include both grizzly and black bears, wolves, moose, bald eagles and beavers.
Lake Creek is a fast flowing river with class I, class II, class III, and two sections of up to class IV whitewater. ABOUT THE TALACHULITNA RIVER: Alaska's Talachulitna River is one of the best south central float trip options. Just a short air-taxi flight from Anchorage, float from Judd Lake 60 miles to the Skwentna River. Part of the Susitna drainage, the Tal is home to some of the largest king salmon in the world weighing over 50 pounds. Using the right techniques during the peak of the run, the Talachulitna River will yield 20+ kings per day to the hand.
